All About Used Hardtops
Figuring out the good truck hard top deals from the bad! |
Everybody wants a deal. But, is a deal really a deal? Being in this business for awhile, I’ve
heard it all. Like the guy
who inspired me to
write this article. He
buys a used Jeep hardtop
for his Wrangler,
what a deal. He only
paid $300 for it, it’s only
missing the rear window.
So, I get the call
from this guy, he want’s
me to sell him a rear
window for a stock Jeep
hardtop. Well, I don’t
have one and I don’t
know where he’s going
to find one. So, was it a
deal?
There are some good
deals on used hardtops. But, you must make sure that you have all your bases covered before
you buy one. I’m going to go over some things that you should consider when buying a used hardtop on Ebay.
Q. Can you inspect the top, before you buy it?
This is very important. Buying it sight unseen is risky. The hardtop has to be
complete. All windows must be intact and the rear door must open, close and
lock. What about the keys for those locks, do they come with the top? What
about the mounting hardware, chances are, it was left on the vehicle when they
removed the hardtop. All hardtop manufacturers use different mounting
systems and most of them are out of business, so beware.
Q. Are you going to have it shipped to you? The cost of shipping a hardtop is very expensive. If you call a commercial freight carrier, they will charge you the full freight rate. So make sure you know the final hardtop cost before you buy. So, good luck on your search for a good used hardtop. Remember, if you can’t find what your
looking for, give us a call. We we’ll make you up a new top guaranteed to fit and send it right out.
